(November 11, 2025 --Chicago, IL) -- The size of an institution, regardless of its type, better predicted productivity for most institutions, according to Fiduciary Earnings & Expenses 2025's preliminary findings. FEE is a sister publication of Trust Performance Report. Productivity is measured by profits per employee as well as revenues per employee. The metric remains an important benchmark for assessing staffing needs. However, profits per employee is considered a better benchmark for assessing productivity of talent, because increases in revenues are not always accompanied by increases in profits. FEE2025 computes and compares performance of bank trust divisions (BTDs) to that of independent trust companies (ITCs) and to national trust companies (NTCs). Productivity improved at large institutions, regardless of institution type. It declined at small institutions. Performance was mixed among midtiers, with ITCs reporting the best performance.
